Explore the Whole James River
Raft the entire Falls of the James River from Huguenot Flatwater to 14th St, enjoying the beautiful scenery, the city skyline, and thrilling rapids!
We will spend about 4 hours on the water and have plenty of time for relaxing and soaking in the scenery.
We will meet you at the Park14th parking lot in the convenient paid, paved parking lot we have reserved before shuttling up to our put-in point about eight miles upriver. You will get outfitted with helmets, PFDs, and paddles before receiving a safety briefing from the trip leader.
Starting at Huguenot, we will paddle the Class I-II Upper James rapids, including Pony Pasture, Choo Choo, and Mitchell’s Gut. We will then stop to relax and eat lunch on one of the river’s many islands. After lunch, we will tackle the Class III-IV Lower James rapids of Hollywood, Fish Ladders, and Pipeline. Once we get off the water, you will be right back at your car! After you dry off, you will be within walking distance of Downtown Richmond’s best restaurants including Bottoms Up Pizza, Siné Irish Pub, or a slightly longer walk to our old friends at Stone Brewing Company.
