If you are looking for milder rapids and want to be surrounded by the natural scenery of the James River, then this trip is a great option.
We will meet you at Forest Hill Park (parking lot at the intersection of New Kent Ave and W 42nd St) before shuttling up to our put-in point about four miles upriver. You will get outfitted with helmets, PFDs, and paddles before receiving a safety briefing from the trip leader.
As you tackle Class I-II rapids, including Pony Pasture, Choo Choo, and Mitchell’s Gut, you’ll enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife. For non-paddlers, we can provide a rower so you can relax and take in the calming views of the James River.
Halfway down, we will stop on a deserted island in the middle of the river to relax and sightsee. After the trip, we will bring you back to Forest Hill Park.
