Upper James River Rafting in Richmond
If you are not looking for the thrill of the rapids, but still want to experience the James River, then the Upper James rafting trip is a great option.
We will meet you at Forest Hill Park (parking lot at the intersection of New Kent Ave and W 42nd St) before shuttling up to our put-in point about four miles upriver. You will get outfitted with helmets, PFDs, and paddles before receiving a safety briefing from the trip leader.
As you tackle Class I-II rapids, including Pony Pasture, Choo Choo, and Mitchell’s Gut, you’ll enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife. For non-paddlers, we can provide a rower so you can relax and take in the calming views of the James River.
Halfway down we will stop on a deserted island in the middle of James to relax and sightsee. After the trip, we will bring you back to Forest Hill Park.
