We will meet at Forest Hill Park at 6:00 PM before shuttling up to our put-in point, about 4 miles upriver. From there we will embark on an expedition-style* (see below for details) trip. We provide guests with personal gear, water, and food packed in dry-bags. During the float, we will stop on an island in the middle of the James where you can relax on the sandy beach or warm bedrock, or take a swim in the river. We will be providing a delectable dinner** made on site for all to enjoy before the show starts! Please alert us of any dietary restrictions upon registration.
The main event comes shortly after dark with fireworks reflecting off the river as you snuggle up with loved ones and take in the moment. Once the smoke settles we will paddle a short distance under the moon’s glow to our takeout point.
TIME: Tuesday, July 4th, 6:00 – 10:30 PM***
LOCATION: Forest Hill Park
WHAT TO BRING: Towels, change of clothes, camera, swimwear, hat, sunglasses, river footwear (No flip-flops, please), sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, mask/PPE, any necessary medication, smiles 
WE PROVIDE: Raft, paddles, helmets, PFDs, safety equipment, water, dinner, shuttle, guides, photographer, emergency restrooms

Alcohol is strictly prohibited.
*The trip is run using Leave No Trace practices: packing out all fire ashes, trash, and other waste.
**Dinner will be chicken or veggie kabobs with a side of grilled corn and rice. Fresh cut watermelon will also be provided.
***The trip will finish shortly after fireworks end.
Cancellation Policy and Weather Contingency Plan
Customers are responsible for the full cost of their booking when they book.
We will continue with the trip as long as the fireworks at Dogwood Dell are still scheduled. If that show is postponed, we will hold the trip the evening the Dogwood Dell show is rescheduled. Those who can not make the postponed date will be issued a refund.
In the event of severe weather, we will wait out the storms or plan the trip accordingly to keep the clients safe. No refunds will be issued for clients canceling due to weather. If RVA Paddlesports cancels a trip for any reason, a full refund will be issued at no penalty.
