Quick Details
RVA Paddlesports is excited to announce that we will be partnering with the Friends of the Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR) by hosting a community paddle event in conjunction with the 2023 Paddle Battle. This event will provide an opportunity for our community members to experience one of the biggest sources of fun that our region has to offer, water recreation. We are offering a variety of paddling experiences appropriate for all ages and skill levels to promote inclusivity in the paddlesports community here in the Richmond area.
This September 23rd event will be taking place at the Hopewell City Marina from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We are having two separate offerings – a Shorty Paddle, and a self-guided Community Paddle.
The first is a guided Shorty Paddle which will start at the Hopewell City Marina and paddle east towards Hopewell City Park and back. Participants will get back to the marina around 12:30, and will receive an event T-shirt and lunch. Pre-registration fee is $45 for adults and $40 for people under 18 years old, first responders, and military. Proceeds will go directly to FOLAR.
The second is a Community Paddle event which will span from 11AM to 2PM. People will be able to rent watercraft for 30 minute time slots with a PFD included. Pre-registration fee is free, but you have the option to donate to FOLAR!
