Explore the beautiful scenery and wildlife on the Upper James River as you paddle beginner-friendly rapids interspersed with calm flatwater sections in this inflatable kayaking trip!

This stretch of river is ideal for everyone, and accessible for families and small groups. We will meet you at Forest Hill Park (parking lot at the intersection of New Kent Ave and W 42nd St) before shuttling up to our put-in point about four miles upriver. You will get outfitted with helmets, PFDs, and paddles before receiving a safety briefing from the trip leader.

Designed to be very stable, inflatable kayaks (or duckys) are the perfect choice for an easygoing guided trip down the river. Paddling the mild Class I-II rapids is a blast, leaving you with time to enjoy the views and learn a bit about the river’s history. We even have tandem inflatable kayaks if you’d like to paddle with a partner!
