Learn Wilderness First Aid and CPR in Richmond, VA

Wilderness First Aid focuses on good basic life support techniques as well as environmental issues that arise in the wilderness. Examples of some of the skills learned and practiced are: improvised splinting, wound cleaning, spine injury assessment and clearing protocols, heat and cold issues, near drowning, allergies, asthma and other common medical problems.

Method: This class is mostly hands on skills with the use of scenarios and labs to strengthen student skills and experience their practical application. Class time between scenarios will be spent in short lectures and utilize debriefings to analyze student growth and develop a greater understanding of the Wilderness First Aid curriculum.

Schedule: CPR certifications will take place Friday evening at 5:00PM, please be on time. WFA instruction will begin Saturday and Sunday promptly at 8:30AM. We will have a one hour break for lunch around noon.     

CPR: This course includes CPR certification and meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for most CPR/First Aid training needs. Additional information regarding CPR certification can be found through the American Safety & Health Institute at:

What to Bring: The entirety of this course instruction will be outside. Please dress appropriately for cold/inclement weather. Bring a watch and the gear that you would usually carry with you on a wilderness outing (work or play) to practice implementing them in practical first aid scenarios. Please bring water and a bagged lunch or plan to find something in the nearby area.

Cost: $250         Students/Industry Professionals: $200                                                      Richmond Public School Students: $150
